Invisalign uses a series of custom-made clear plastic aligners that gradually shift your teeth. Aligners are worn for about two weeks before switching to the next series. Unlike metal braces, these aligners are see-through and allow for an easier clean. Treatment usually takes between 12 to 18 months or longer depending on the complexity of your case and how consistently you wear your aligners.
Invisalign is generally more comfortable than metal braces, but you may experience mild discomfort when switching to a new set of aligners. This is a normal sign showing that the treatment is working.
One of the biggest advantages that separates Invisalign from metal braces is the ability to take them off before eating or drinking. It’s recommended to still stay away from sticky or hard foods during the straightening process.
Clean your aligners with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water. You will also be provided a Invisalign cleaning system. Avoid hot water, as that can warp the plastic.
