At Sundance Dental & Orthodontics, we use dentist-supervised whitening agents that safely break down stains and discoloration on the surface of the teeth. We perform this procedure in-office, but we also provide our patients with easy-to-follow take-home whitening kits.
Professional teeth whitening is safe only under a dentist’s supervision. Our treatments are customized to your teeth’s needs, so you can get the whitening you need without harming your enamel or gums.
With proper care, teeth whitening results can last several months to a few years. You can maintain your bright smile by avoiding food and drink items that can stain your teeth and maintaining good oral hygiene. You can also do touch-up treatments when necessary to prolong results.
It’s normal for some patients to experience tooth sensitivity after whitening, but this wears off in 24-48 hours. We recommend avoiding hot, cold, or acidic foods for the first 24 hours and using sensitive toothpaste if needed. Try to also avoid dark colored foods and drinks for at least 48 hours after treatment.
Teeth whitening is a great option for many patients, but you should reconsider if you have tooth sensitivity, gum disease, intrinsic stains (tetracycline stains), or dental restorations (crowns, veneers, or fillings). During your consultation, our team of expert dentists will assess your teeth and recommend the best whitening option for you.
